Duterte’s Admin Order on the Way for Journalists Killing Probe

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Amidst turmoil between President Rodrigo Duterte and the media, the President is about to release an administrative order for the presidential task force creation ro investigate against media killings as announced by Malacañang over the weekend. Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and his office’s lawyers are drafting the administrative order. Malacañang is confident that the move could appease uncertainties over media killings.

Duterte’s campaign spokesperson Peter Laviña also confirmed that the task force will investigate the media killing incidents, and added that Duterte’s appointing a special prosecutor is part of the plan for such cases.

176 journalists as per record have been killed since the 1986 Edsa revolution. The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines or NUJP was not so happy with Duterte’s earlier remarks about those cases involving the media but he seems to be making up for that.
