The Marcos Family in Hawaii
Hawaii Instead of Paoay, Ilocos Norte
The Marcos family fled from the Malacanang thinking that their destination was Paoay and not Hawaii. Nevertheless, they accepted their destiny with the limited resources they’ve got. Ferdinand Marcos did not have a trace of depression. He said, he did not resign and so, he’s still the President of the Philippines.
Marcos Prevented Bloodshed
The former President Marcos still had the majority’s support of the armed forces of the Philippines under the then Chief of Staff General Fabian C. Ver. They just waited for the command of the Filipino leader to disperse the EDSA crowd. Marcos was very much concerned about people’s safety. There were on the verge of a civil war. Very close to killing each other. Despite his downfall, he was on high spirits without bitterness because he prevented bloodshed among his countrymen.
Letter to the Filipino People
No matter how legitimate for him to remain in power, Marcos did not insist to hold on to power for the sake of the Filipino people. The former First Lady by his side can only respect his noble intentions for the welfare of his people. Hoping that one day, the namesake of President Ferdinand Marcos could continue what he started for the country’s progress.
