Martial law never again but nothing to do with Bongbong Marcos

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Sen. Risa Hontiveros, and the Cebu chapter of Akbayan, launched the book for students entitled “Marcos Martial Law: Never Again,” by Raissa Robles in Cebu City recently. It was attended by those born after martial law. Many are student leaders and officers of the  student councils of Cebu’s universities.

No to Martial Law does not mean No to Bongbong

Here it is criticised stating – Bongbong Marcos: What human rights violations during my parents’ watch? This move by the Liberal Party misleading young minds just failed to connect Bongbong Marcos with martial law. In the first place, it is just too stupid to do that. Just because martial law happened during his father’s time.

It also contained how Defense Secretary Juan Ponce Enrile faked his own ambush in Wack-wack, Mandaluyong to justify Marcos’s imposition of martial rule on Sept. 21, 1972; how Congress was padlocked and media shut down; how activists were allegedly murdered – to protect its economic interests.

It also stated the accusation that Marcos committed widespread violation of human rights; and how Marcos and Imelda allegedly plundered the Philippine’s wealth that cannot exist if not because of their brilliance in creating opportunities. The book highlighted that communist insurgency and worsened the Moro rebellion in Mindanao took place – but failed to justify why it cannot be better now after 30 years. This is despite having two terms in the presidency by the Aquinos.

The Book is Clearly Bias

Marcos’ apparent apparatus of terror just did not represent the true character of the late president. He was in fact the only Philippine President who focussed on giving quality service to Filipinos. As a matter of fact, most schools, universities, hospitals and infrastructures were built my the Marcos administration. All that the Aquinos’ did was to change their names to honor their dead.

Meant to Attack the younger Marcos

The Liberals’ poisoning the minds of the youth is actually a sign of insecurity. They know that sooner or later, Bongbong Marcos will rise into power. Circumstances are predicting it – and they have to stop the world rotating to put a halt into that. As gracious and well-mannered as he is, Bongbong Marcos just tried to answer suck attacking questions the best that he can. He really has learned a lot from people who cannot let go of hate.

The book “Marcos Martial Law: Never Again” is surely using the drama that happened during martial law – hoping that it would discredit Bongbong Marcos. This is how popular Marcos is to the hearts and minds of Filipinos. That is why detractors felt the need to tarnish his reputation over and over again. However, it’s a different world now. People who are smart enough to know the real truth can have full access of –  if only they are willing to hear it. Martial Law aftermaths had nothing to do with Bongbong Marcos after all!
