Manny Pacquiao’s Accusations are Publicity Driver
Secretary Salvador Panelo admits that when they talked about Senator Manny Pacquiao’s allegations against the president, their viewers reached around one million. Therefore, it is not a surprise that the president’s camp would retaliate to whatever the Filipino boxer and lawmaker may have to say. After all, Pacquiao is a notable supporter of Marcos. Bongbong Marcos is said to have an alliance with Mayor Sara Duterte through his sister, Senator Imee Marcos. So, their common alliance should be enough to stage some kind of drama for the sake of publicity. The only question is who is going to be the best actor
Protecting Marcos from Bad Publicity
Barely three months prior to the registration of candidacy for the 2021 elections, character changes are inevitable. The respectful Pacquiao is now in line with the barking Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. The publicity stunts, however, are very effective. There’s no mention at all about the alleged atrocities of the Marcos regime unlike in 2016. During the previous election, Pacquiao ran under UNA for Senator, ex-VP Jejomar Binay’s party who endorses Bongbong Marcos for Vice President at that time.
The Actual Tandem Remains a Secret
The Pacquiao-Duterte-Marcos alliance is not clear as to who’s going to run as President and Vice President. The only obvious goal is to make Marcos the president even if it requires an unconventional way. Mayor Duterte once spoke about the winning President’s right to give up the presidency. This is to give way to the Vice President. Should it’s going to be the Duterte-Marcos tandem in 2021, Pacquiao would surely be around to make noises.
