More than 11,000 people can lose their jobs if the ABS-CBN franchise’s renewal is not undertaken. This is torture to those employees. On top of that, other companies like Honda are also moving out of the country. Although Malacañang is confident that job replacements are sufficient, these developments certainly cloud the election 2022 plans of Bongbong Marcos or BBM. Perhaps, instead of wait and see, as her sister Senator Imee Marcos describes his candidacy – a firmer disclosure is what the Filipinos need now to gauge the country’s future.

DOJ: Resolution needed to allow ABS-CBN to still operate
Hope for ABS-CBN
ABS-CBN may continue to operate with an expired franchise. What would be the basis? A concurrent resolution of Congress. The Justice Department made this remark during a Senate hearing on the media giant’s alleged franchise violations.
Congress may direct the National Telecommunications Commission to issue a provisional franchise to ABS-CBN. This is pending bills calling for its renewal, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said. Guevarra is among the resource persons at the Senate Committee on Public Services inquiry into bills on ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal and into the network’s supposed violations.
Restrictions to ABS-CBN May be Good to BBM
As per Senator Allan Peter Cayetano, the President’s ire on the giant network did not happen for anything. They are still looking into the possibility that ABS-CBN certainly favored some candidates during the 2016 elections. Therefore, since its history has always been an anti-Marcos, the restrictions on them if permitted to continue operating can be beneficial for Bongbong Marcos’ running for the top post in 2022.
