Run Sara Run Campaign at Edsa
Freedom of Expression Only
A group of around 1,500 members of the Inday Sara supporters group rallied at EDSA during the 35th anniversary of this mutiny turned revolution recently. They said that the mayor does not know them. But they just want to practice freedom of expression. They want Mayor Sara to run as president. However, Inday Sara said that there’s nothing that could change her mind right now. The president, her father also said that he won’t allow his daughter to do so. They both do not believe that the event is a symbol of democracy. They are in alliance with the Marcoses instead.
Not a Standard of Freedom
Mayor Sara finds it hard to believe that EDSA becomes the standard of freedom to some. She also resists its propaganda. According to her, a few people push this idea down the throats of many Filipinos. President Rodrigo Duterte always praises the late President Ferdinand Marcos. His reign was toppled by this so-called bloodless revolution in 1986. The Marcos loyalists consider this as a big mistake. Duterte always skips its celebration.
Bongbong Marcos’ Assurance
Meanwhile, Bongbong Marcos assures his supporters that he and Mayor Sara won’t run in the same position come elections 2022. So, it is natural to have speculations that the unbeatable tandem could push through. It’s likely Bongbong-Sara. Nontheless, the young Marcos also has no problems if it’s the other way around. That if the Dutertes would agree with it.
