Ruth Cabal speaks to Senator Imee Marcos
Senator Imee Marcos on Robredo’s Learning Hubs
Senator Imee Marcos, sister of the presumptive VP, Leni Robredo said that she is open to good ideas in the country’s current education system during the Coronavirus pandemic. She urges people not to politicize Robredo’s learning hubs. In fact, they also have learning centers in Ilocos Norte to aid families and teachers with the new digital method.
The senator calls on the government to allow blended learning in schools. This is to urgently address the growing number of mental illnesses among young people. The students need some social interaction with peers. The gap between the rich and the poor has also taken a toll among students. Limited blended learning in safer areas are necessary since there’s no evidence that Coronavirus infection is high in this cluster.
The Senator’s Stand on the Learning Policy
Marcos also clarifies that from the start, she is always against the closure of physical schools. The preventive measures in other countries for learning facilities are actually not as strict as in the Philippines. She points out that to restrict students from going to school will have more negative effects on children.
