Bautista’s Impeachment Clears the First Part of Bongbong Marcos’ Election Protest

election

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

An impeachment complaint is already filed against the Commission on Elections chairperson Andres Bautista. This is on the ground of the betrayal of public trust.  Plus the culpable violation of the Constitution over allegations of ill-gotten wealth. This development clears the way for the recount required on Bongbong Marcos’ election protest which is on the second part.

[VIDEO]: Andres Bautista, sinampahan ng reklamong impeachment dahil sa betrayal of public trust.

Impeachment Filed

Former Negros Oriental Rep. Jacinto Paras with his lawyers Ferdinand Topacio and Manuelito Luna filed the impeachment complaint at the House of Representatives’ Secretary General’s office against Bautista. Deputy Speaker Gwen Garcia, Kabayan Rep. Harry Roque, and Cavite Rep. Abraham Tolentino endorsed the impeachment complaint. It fulfills the first requirement for an impeachment complaint to be duly endorsed by a member of the lower House.

Election Corruption

Bautista faced an impeachment complaint about betrayal of public trust and culpable violations of the Constitution for not declaring his true wealth in his Statement of Assets and Liabilities Networth (SALN). Graft and corruption for allegedly receiving commissions from Divina Law Offices, the legal counsel of Venezuelan election technology supplier and Comelec’s biggest contractor Smartmatic are also featured.

Doubts on the Automated Election

Cebu Representative Gwen Garcia said that she decides to endorse the complaint to clear out all speculations since the wife presented to the media passbooks which showed Bautista’s undeclared wealth. The allegations against Bautista cast doubt on the credibility of the recently concluded 2016 elections, she said. “Personally, I have always had serious doubts about the automated voting systems. I think it’s the right time now to see and check on the veracity as well as the credibility of the automated voting system, as evidenced by this very, very controversial happening,” Garcia added.

On to the Recount

Leni Robredo’s Camp always used the first part of Bongbong Marcos’ election protest as the cause for the recount delay. They said that the second part can only start after the first part is resolved. This is about the credibility of the digital election process in 2016. Now that the COMELEC Chair already faces an impeachment complaint after the evidence presented by his estranged wife, the recount must start immediately to satisfy public interest.

Alvarez Prepares for Robredo, Sereno Impeachment while VP Snubs Counter SONA

SONA

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Vice President Leni Robredo learned her lesson the hard way. If she continues to attack the President, her downfall can also be faster. It wise of her to snub the counter SONA at UP where most of her colleagues from the Liberal Party take turns in criticizing PDu30’s first year in office. She instead flew to Hong Kong with her daughter to spend time with the OFWs there over the weekend.

Youtube video by; INQUIRER.net
[VIDEO]: Vice President Leni Robredo and Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno face the prospect of impeachment as the 17th Congress enters its second year, according to Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

Story of Hope

Robredo is not at the counter SONA organized by opposition lawmakers. They are composed mainly of her party mates. It is held at the University of the Philippines recently. Robredo flew to Hong Kong over the weekend instead. She aims to gather inspiring stories from overseas Filipino workers for he “Istorya ng Pag-asa” project

Counter SONA

”SOanoNA” was attended by Senators Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, and Antonio Trillanes IV. They all delivered a message for detained Sen. Leila de Lima. Also present were Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano and Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat. No one clarified if Robredo knew about the event.

Colorful 2nd Year

Robredo and Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno face the prospect of impeachment as the 17th Congress enters its second year. This is according to Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez. “That’s why this second year of Congress may become more colorful,” he said. Alvarez confirms that he is collecting evidence to build possible impeachment cases against Robredo and Sereno.

Anti-Marcos Stint

Alvarez’ anti-Marcos nature is evident in the Ilocos 6 case. He made sure that Gov. Imee Marcos and her six officials are treated as cruel as possible. This is not surprising because He is one of the direct successors of the Vice Presidency or Presidency for that matter. Koko Pimentel, the Senate President is also in the line of succession. This is the reason why Alvarez wants Robredo impeached instead of Bongbong Marcos to win the electoral protest. Nothing is as clear as that.

Alvarez to do a “Corona” to Supreme Court CJ Sereno over Ilocos 6

Supreme Court

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez vows to impeach Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno of the Supreme Court over her advice to the CA committee on the show cause order on Governor Imee Marcos’ case. It orders the three CA justices to explain why they should not be cited for contempt. This is for granting the petition for habeas corpus of the Ilocos 6.

Sereno’s Impeachment

Alvarez reacts to the report that Sereno orders the CA to defy the show-cause order. “If it is true then we will discuss it in Congress for a possible impeachment case,” he said. Sereno earlier had lunch with some justices to allegedly discuss their response to the Congress’ show cause order against the Ilocos 6 justices involved.

Justices in Trouble

The House of Representatives is in a with CA Associate Justices Stephen Cruz, Edwin Sorongon, and Nina Antonio-Valenzuela. They ordered the release of the Ilocos Norte officials detained by the Congress. This is for answering questions about an alleged anomaly over the purchase of P66.45 million worth of vehicles. The funds are from the tobacco excise taxes.

Southern Leyte Speech

In his speech during the PDP-Laban in Southern Leyte oath-taking, Alvarez announces the delay of the barangay and SK elections this year. “To all barangay officials who are here will be happy with this news that there will be no elections and that the barangay chairman will just be appointed,” he said.

Power over his Head

Alvarez is noted to threaten VP Leni Robredo of impeachment after her UN side event fiasco. The President was against it. Then it went quiet. This time, he talks about doing a “Corona” to CJ Sereno over its Ilocos 6 clash with Congress. The late Chief Justice was impeached during the Aquino administration. He was highly intimidated during hearings. Knowing that Du30 is an ally of the Marcoses, will he not say a word this time?

Despite the President’s Defending Robredo, there’s no Stopping her Downfall

Robredo

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

The relations between the president and Leni Robredo are constantly changing. Du30 at first suspects that she was among those plotting his ouster from office. He now says that he believes Robredo is not involved in any plan to dismiss him from office and even appeal to critics to stop any impeachment moves against her. They are scheduled for dinner after the Holy Week.

[VIDEO]: 24 Oras: Net Satisfaction Rating ni Vice President Leni Robredo, bumaba base sa bagong survey ng SWS

More Filipinos ar Dissatisfied with Robredo

More Filipinos are dissatisfied with Robredo’s performance as shown in the nationwide poll results released recently. Private pollster Social Weather Stations or SWS said that her net satisfaction rating among public officials declined for a second consecutive quarter. It drops by 11 percent to a “moderate” +26 in the first three months of this year compared to a “good” +37 last  December 2016.

Critical of the Drug War

Her downfall is actually self-imposed. She videotaped her criticisms on the country’s war on drugs. Her pronouncements angered supporters of the president that contain unfounded details. Since Du30 remains popular despite the impeachment complaint filed against him, Robredo’s action displeased most people – the reason for the decline in her rating. The president’s net satisfaction rating as of March 2017 is at +63 or “very good.”

Impeachment Favored

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who threatened to fast-track an impeachment complaint against Robredo right after the holidays despite the president’s disagreement, saw his net satisfaction rating increase by two percentage points to +12. This means that any legal action against the Vice President is duly approved by many Filipinos.

Recount Soon

One more big issue that proves the majority of Filipinos’ hatred towards Robredo is the recount call via Social Media. This will soon be protested at the Supreme Court on April 17, 2017  -that coincides with Bongbong Marcos’ deadline for the payment of the deposit recount to finally set the electoral protest in motion.

Marcos Lawyer Lozano Sues Du30’s Impeachment Filer, Warns of a Bloody Revolution

Lozano

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Tthe former lawyer of the late strongman President Ferdinand Marcos, Oliver Lozano questions the motives of the Magdalo lawmaker, Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano who tries to impeach PDu30 over his alleged role in the extrajudicial killings of 8,000 drug suspects and allegedly amassing P2.2 billion in unexplained wealth, among other crimes. On top of that, they also added the unconfirmed Benham Rise agreement of the President with China.

Youtube video by; INQUIRER.net
[VIDEO]: Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano filed the impeachment complaint before the Secretary General of the House of Representatives, who would determine if the form and substance of the complaint is sufficient to have the President impeached.

Conspiracy Claim

Alejano has no personal knowledge of the allegations laid out in his impeachment complaint. So, the grounds are actually based on hearsays. The former Marcos lawyer claimed that the move to impeach the President is part of a conspiracy backed by the US Central Intelligence Agency and the European Union, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, two international human rights organizations that criticize extrajudicial killings linked to the president’s bloody war against illegal drugs.

Yellow Gang Strategy

Lozano accuses the “Yellow Gang” of masterminding the plot in hopes of installing Vice President Leni Robredo to the presidency.

Oliver Lozano

“Therefore, I believe that the impeachment complaint against the president is part of sustained propaganda to eliminate DU30 and elevate Robredo in order to usher the return of the yellow gang composed of: plunderers, drug lords, gambling lords, smugglers, oligarchs, landgrabbers, the vindictive, corrupt and incompetent,” the complaint said.

Bloody Revolution

In his complaint, Lozano warns of a “violent confrontation and bloody revolutionary situation” that could arise as a result of the political crisis. “I believe that the enlightened Anti-Yellow Gang will rise in defense of the President in great spirit that the recent Yellow People Power to oust the President is aborted by Counter People Power,” he elaborated in the said complaint.

The President’s Impeachment is Bound to Fail

House Deputy Minority Leader Harry Roque also agrees with pro-administration legislators that the impeachment case against the President will simply go down the drain. Roque, himself and international and constitutional law expert, explains that Du30 could not be held liable, or impeached, for acts which had happened before he became president. Let alone the unfounded allegations over Benham Rise.
