Bongbong Marcos and Son’s Undas Tips Neutralize Election Chaos

By: Elena Grace Flores

Bongbong Marcos and his son came up with a few tips on how to make the long Undas weekend fun for the family. Gatherings can be interesting without alcohol and gambling at cemeteries. Wholesome activities bring harmony and peace to the memories of the deceased loved ones. Despite the 2016 election chaos, the Marcoses knew for sure that everything will come to pass. This is because no amount of criticism can undo the people’s memory of a public servant’s good performance like that of the Marcos patriarch. He urges his detractors that instead of finding fault in others using the dead, they should do their job well and let their track record speak for themselves.

Election Support for the Future Senator

This week, the Marcos family came out in full support for Gov. Imee Marcos, as she filed her candidacy for Senator. This simply shows a solid family that can build a strong nation. The former Senator has no doubts that given his sister’s vast experience as a former Congresswoman, along with her 9 years as Governor in their hometown province, Gov. Marcos will definitely be an asset in the Senate.

Nostalgic Moments

Bongbong Marcos reminisces that he filed his candidacy for Senator in 2010 and eight years later, his sister did the same. So he couldn’t help but feel nostalgic when his Manang Imee asked him to accompany her to COMELEC.

Appointment of the Next SC Chief Justice

The Chief Justice post was vacated by Teresita Leonardo de Castro who retired last October 10. President Du30 earlier said he chose De Castro since she was the most senior among the three justices in the shortlist. When asked if he would appoint Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio for the same reason, Du30 only said: “I will decide when I cross the bridge.” Carpio has repeatedly criticized some of the President’s policies, particularly the administration’s allegedly soft stance on the South China Sea dispute. Carpio also previously focused on the late Ferdinand Marcos’s alleged ineligibility to be interred at LNMB. This was because of the sovereign action of the people of removing him from office as President and Commander-in-Chief, he said.

Continuous Bilateral Ties with China

The Chinese consulate general office has formally opened in President Rodrigo Du30’s hometown, Davao City. Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. welcomed the Chinese consulate. He hailed it as a “testament to an immemorial friendship” between the Philippines and China. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi inaugurated the consulate. His two-day visit would include bilateral meetings with Locsin and other officials that started during the Marcos regime. Locsin discusses the relevant partnership with Wang on trade, investments, infrastructure, tourism, and agriculture plus education, and anti-narcotics among others.

Relaxing Undas Tips

Playing the guitar, cleaning cemetery spots, writing Christmas lists, and many more family activities might be simple but they can surely take away the burden of issues like election cheatings, the appointment of the next Supreme Court Justice, and the possible joint-exploration with China in the South China Sea on top of the other joint ventures.

Bongbong Marcos’ Reacts on Undas Special: Why Stress on Presidential Bid, when it’s VP Electoral Protest First?

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Bongbong Marcos asks why an LP media highlighted his bid for the Presidency when it is still in 2022? He explained that the electoral protest against VP Leni Robredo is crucial right now among other things. It seems like there’s a propaganda pattern that portrays pro-administration officials as Presidentiables. This goes the same with PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa. He just said that he will quadruple the current pensions of police retirees if he becomes president – but he never said that he will run for President because obviously, the presidential election is still far away. He is more concerned about terrorist attacks possibly during Undas.

Undas Special Overpowered by Presidential Bids

In one Undas special, the PNP Chief warned people to be vigilant during the November 1 All Saints Day and November 2 All Souls Day commemorations in crowded places like cemeteries. Instead of stressing this out, the video footage’s subtitle stresses what he wants to do if he becomes president just like what they did to Marcos. Are they trying to shield VP Leni Robredo’s ambition to be president?

Electoral Protest Update

The Supreme Court that sits as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal ruled that the Comelec must pay for the storage fees of election materials kept in foreign posts. In a 6-page decision dated October 10, the PET denied the Comelec’s petition requesting that the storage fees be shouldered instead by Marcos who had filed an electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.

Storage Fees Liability

The incurred storage fee is already over P4.5-million for New York and Hong Kong alone. Comelec reasons that since the PPO instructs them to preserve and safeguard the integrity of the ballots. So, they are stocked in the foreign posts which resulted in additional costs. However, the PET slams them down by saying that they can make them safe if they are responsible enough to plan the logistics of the transport back to the country.

Respect for the Saints and the Departed

Filipinos flock to the cemeteries to visit their departed loved ones during these holidays. Politics are set aside when family and friends get together to remember the dead. Some people adopt the Western Halloween traditions like the “trick or treat” event for the children and the costume parties for teenagers and adults. Traditional Filipino families just light a candle at home with native delicacies like sweetened sticky rice and other favorites.
