Imee Marcos’ Next Steps After Victory Amidst Bullying

By: Elena Grace Flores
Law-making is not a stranger to the new Senator Imee Marcos. She was in Congress before. She is definitely not keen on vying for the Senate Presidency but hopes for the chairmanship in social welfare or local government – just like her brother, Bongbong Marcos. Bullying was evident during the campaign period. Many factions call her names. Robber, lier, and many more. However, Marcos remains forgiving. She even assures her detractors not to worry because of her disbelief in vengeance.

First Time Win of a Marcos in Cebu

Senator Marcos said that it was a shocker to win the votes of Cebuanos. Cebu is known to be a bailiwick of the opposition but many people disagree with this. In fact, a reliable source said that a pro-Marcos priest arranges many campaign sorties of President Du30 who backs Marcos because of his admiration to the former first lady, Imelda Marcos. Sure enough, the Marcos matriarch considers her daughter’s win as her early 90th birthday gift.

Inday Sara Delivers in Davao

On top of the surprising votes, Inday Sara, the presidential daughter also delivers in Davao and other territories of the Du30’s and other Hugpong ng Pagbabago candidates. The Marcos-Du30 votes really prove to be unbeatable these days. This is a good hint for the tandem for 2022.

The North Remembers and Ignores the Bullying

The new senator is happy with the outcome of the North. They really remembered, she added. The bullying has no effect on them because they know the real score as far as the Marcoses are concerned. Most of them are even fed up with the repeated accusations against her.

Touching on  the Issues Thrown

Marcos firmly says that although Princeton denies that she is a graduate of the school, she is officially a member of the alumni. She just does not want to make speculations on how that happens. All she knows that she completes the curriculum just like her peers. There was also no problem in her admission to the  UP until their negative statement just prior to the campaign period. After her victory, she wants to address poverty after profiling those who need help that can be productive and the one who need proper care.

Affordable Foods on the Table through Agriculture

Imports for the basic commodities must only be for emergency situations only. Boosting agricultural production is really the key to putting quality affordable food on the table daily. Her previous case in Ilocos Norte only proves that she is willing to go out of her way to help the farmers. She also warns her son, the successor of her gubernatorial task – not to approve almost all requests of his constituents to balance the province’s funds.

Bongbong Marcos is One Step Closer Towards his Bid to Nullify Leni Robredo’s Victory

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Bongbong Marcos has moved a step closer towards his bid to nullify the victory of Leni Robredo in the May 2016 Vice Presidential race. This might be a long process but the SC recently acts on many motions that include the start of the Preliminary Conference. This is already a good sign of progress.

Preliminary Conference Finally Off the Ground

The Supreme Court, that acts as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has approved the request of Bongbong Marcos to get his electoral protest against Robredo off the ground by the date of the preliminary conference. Theodore Te, the high court’s spokesperson, said that the magistrates granted Marcos’ motion during their full-court session in Baguio City recently. Just at the last of their annual summer sessions. The initial hearing will be at 2 p.m. on June 21.

Without Prejudice

PET issued the ruling “without prejudice” to all the petitions filed by both parties. It also awaits resolution from the 15-member tribunal. The Supreme Court tries to be just to both parties – to be able to settle disputes through lawful means the best way they can within their power.

Joint Preliminary Conference

“Rule 3 of the 2010 PET Rules mandates that the rules are to be liberally construed to achieve a just, expeditious and inexpensive determination and disposition of every contest before the tribunal. Therefore, the PET has deemed it proper to conduct the preliminary conference of both protests jointly,” Te explained in a statement.

Slight Difference

Robredo and Marcos are expected to submit documents to show the “possibility of obtaining stipulations or admissions of facts and documents to avoid unnecessary proof,” said Te. The magistrates also directed them to limit the number of their witnesses and to raise comprehensible issues. Robredo’s victory margin over Marcos is only 200,000 votes. This prompts him to challenge the voting results in 132,446 polling precincts. PET required him to pay P66.2 million in cash deposit for the recount in these clusters.
